Teaser

A teaser is a one- to two-page anonymized summary of a company for sale, sent to prospective buyers to gauge interest before any confidential information changes hands.

The teaser is the top of the sell-side funnel. It describes the opportunity — sector, size, growth story — without naming the company, so an advisor can circulate it widely across a buyer list without breaching confidentiality. A buyer who bites signs an NDA and graduates to the full CIM.

Design matters more here than people admit. The teaser is often the first artifact a buyer associates with the deal, and a sharp, confidentiality-first layout signals a well-run process. For firms rethinking how these materials look and travel, the same discipline that shapes a strong M&A advisory website applies to the documents that go out under its name.
